Our Board Chairman, Cheryl Batagol, received a Public Service Medal in the Australia Day Honours. The medal recognises Cheryl’s outstanding public service to environmental protection and sustainability in Victoria. Her efforts to make the Environment Protection Authority Victoria a more effective regulator have improved the lives of many Victorians. Congratulations Cheryl, and very well deserved.

Professor Simon Biggs was recently appointed as the next Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Western Australia, taking up his new position in March 2018.

He is very excited about his new appointment:

“It is a privilege to be selected to join one of the world’s top 100 universities and have the opportunity to live and work in a wonderful city such as Perth.”

Simon, who joined the Board in 2016, was the Executive Dean for the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology at the University of Queensland. We wish Simon all the best in his new role.

Greg Claydon, who was reappointed as a Director in 2016, recently retired from the West Australian Department of Water and Environmental Regulation. Luckily, the CRC will continue to benefit from his extensive water industry knowledge, experience and achievement, built via senior executive roles in both Western Australia and Queensland. Throughout his career, Greg contributed significantly to strategic water policy, water related legislation, drought and flood response strategies, water infrastructure plans, water quality improvement plans, integrated urban water management, and national, trans-boundary and international water policies, plans and programs.
