The calibre of CRCWSC researchers has been underscored by three prestigious appointments for Professor Nigel Tapper, Co-leader of Program B (research on water sensitive urbanism) and Researcher on Integrated Research Project 2 (IRP2), which is developing and applying economic evaluation frameworks.

Nigel has been appointed to Panel C of the Australian Research Council's ERA (Excellence in Research for Australia) Engagement and Impact Assessment Pilot for 2017, which will assess the impact of research being undertaken by Australian university researchers. This follows previous appointments to the ERA Research Evaluation Committee for Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences.

As well, Nigel has been invited to join the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Global Climate Observing System Terrestrial Observations Panel for Climate. This panel provides advice on data to be collected for various global climate initiatives, including WMO observations and the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) and UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) processes.

And on the basis of the work done on urban cooling in the CRCWSC, Nigel has been invited to join the Scientific Advisory Board of the "Cooling Singapore" Research Program, funded by the Government of Singapore. Congratulations to Nigel on these well-earned forms of recognition, and on the opportunity to contribute strategic perspectives into important settings for decision-making.
