I have known Tony, and of his work, for years before I was asked to join the bid for the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities as the independent Chair. It was why I accepted. I have long bought into the vision of water sensitive urban design, of water sensitive cities, of integrated water management and of liveability in our urban spaces.

I had a huge regard for Tony’s groundbreaking work over the years and becoming Chair was an opportunity to work closely with Tony and a research program that was breathtakingly audacious in its scope and the reach of its partnerships.

I have not been disappointed!

It has been an absolute privilege to work alongside Tony and the CRCWSC team. The fact that we will deliver on what we promised, that we have exceeded expectations, is in a very large part because of Tony.

I call it the “Tony Wong Magic” but in actual fact it is much more complex than that. It is Tony’s ideas, his way of bringing people together to solve problems, his resilience, his technical ability, his belief in research and adoption, his passion for water sensitive cities and his determination to secure a different future for our cities.

The Board of the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities is deeply grateful to Tony for his vision and leadership. We are delighted with the role he has accepted within the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities family. It will give him the creative space that will allow him to continue to benefit cities in Australia and indeed around the world.

I personally look forward to our continuing partnership.
