This important event follows a series of consultation workshops held with CRCWSC industry participants and key stakeholders in Australian cities to discuss the transition of these cities and regions to being more water sensitive, and importantly their ‘needs and objectives’ to support their transition. As a result of these city/region ‘Needs and Objectives’ workshops we will then be in a position to commence the scoping of the research opportunities that may be incorporated into the 2nd tranche of the CRCWSC.

The purpose of the first Tranche 2 Project Development Workshop is to:

  1. Develop the preliminary Tranche 2 program of projects that responds to the needs of industry, research questions and strategic purpose of the CRCWSC,
  2. Commence to create alignment between researchers and emerging T2 delivery model initiatives (including project selection, project management, governance etc.),
  3. Provide researchers with an understanding of the proposed T2 delivery model and identify best opportunities for their ongoing involvement.

CRCWSC researchers are invited to register interest in participating in this workshop and the ongoing process for researcher input into the Tranche 2 development work.

While there are some financial constraints that may limit the logistical support for the workshop (e.g. travel costs), we are keen to ensure that all research areas, disciplines and projects are represented at the workshop and have the opportunity for input. To this end, once registration of interest has closed, an invitation list will be compiled in consultation with Program and Project Leaders. It is intended that workshop participants will consult with non-attending researchers in the CRCWSC and represent their views. In addition to researchers, invitations will be extended to representatives of the Research Advisory Sub-committee, Stakeholder Advisory Sub-committee and Regional Advisory Panels to participate.

The preliminary agenda for the Project Development Workshop will comprise two full days. The first day will focus on sharing the needs and objectives identified by industry in the various cities, and discussing how Tranche 1 research outputs contribute to addressing these needs.  There is also an opportunity for researchers to identify emerging research directions and opportunities that will also help address the various transition needs.  The second day will see the commencement of project scoping by multi-disciplinary research and industry teams. The project development and approval process will continue into early 2016.

Researchers nominating to participate in the workshop must be able to commit for both days. Once participants have been confirmed, they will be supplied with further details of the workshop (currently under development).
