Professor Anas Ghadouani – Water for Society

On Tuesday 5 August, Professor Anas Ghadouani presented the 2014 Seddon Lecture titled 'Water for Society'. Professor Ghadouani’s lecture examined some of the social transformations needed to support water sensitive cities, including community attitudes and behavioral change, governance and economic assessment practices, management systems and technological innovations. The lecture also highlighted the significant work of the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities.

The annual Seddon Lecture is presented in memory of Emeritus Professor George Seddon, sponsored by the Institute of Advanced Studies and UWA’s Friends of the Grounds. The lecture was attended by around 120 guests, including many of the University’s Friends of the Grounds.

Professor Robyn Owens, Deputy Vice Chancellor – Research said “The UWA Ross Lecture Theatre was almost full of UWA’s Friends of the Grounds, who attended the 2014 George Seddon Memorial Lecture. This year’s speaker, Professor Anas Ghadouani, provided a fascinating talk entitled ‘Water for Society’, where he outlined some of the work being undertaken in the $120M Australian Cooperative Research Centre for Water Sensitive Cities. “

Professor Owens continued, “the audience were particularly interested in the potential for cities to be “quantified” at the level of individual household water use, and they were keen to explore ways in which human behaviour can be modified to optimise our precious water supplies.”

Congratulations Anas on your opportunity to present at this high profile event!
