A Queensland local government is using the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities’ (CRCWSC) synthesis report Ideas for Ripley Valley to improve and implement its integrated water strategy.

After a series of planning meetings and synthesis workshops with the City of Ipswich and project partners last November, CRCWSC researchers identified ‘challenges and opportunities’ in the development of the Ripley Valley industry and residential growth area.

In a media release issued by the City of Ipswich, City Infrastructure Committee Chair, Councillor Cheryl Bromage, said the Ideas for Ripley Valley report identified there was a need for the best mix and operations of water, sewerage and drainage systems to meet the customer needs and deliver efficient services.

“It also raised the need for urban design for communities to create green corridors to connect communities and enhance microclimates,” Cr Bromage said.

“These ideas and others contained in the report are designed to encourage different stakeholders to work together for shared solutions.

“Council, along with other key stakeholders, is making progress towards a number of these ideas and the Ideas for Ripley research report will help to inform further work.”
