Society (Program A)
Delivering social change
This program focuses on understanding and delivering the social change needed to support water sensitive cities. This includes changes in community attitude and water-related behaviours, the economic valuation of water, and changes in institutional and urban water governance.
Projects in the Society Program are working to:
- guide the development of the rules (regulatory environment) in which our cities are developed and planned;
- support investment and decision-making (business case) processes for urban development and water management; and
- ensure communities are engaged in the development by water and urban planning sectors.
This will be achieved by:
- delivering governance and risk allocation frameworks trialled in policy environments by key stakeholder organisations across a number of case studies;
- supporting practitioners and organisations to use the economic valuation tools, information, and guidelines produced by the CRCWSC to guide water sensitive cities-related investment decisions;
- identifying, testing, and evaluating the most effective behaviour change mechanisms and strategies to accelerate community water sensitive cities-related literacy and desired water sensitive behaviours; and
- establishing planning and envisioning methodologies adopted by key stakeholder organisations to foster co-development of water sensitive cities-related strategies.
