More than 4330 students and industry professionals took part in the free online course Water for Liveable and Resilient Cities, delivered by Monash Water for Liveability Centre (MWfL) and the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities (CRCWSC).

The Lead Educator of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) was the Director of MWfL and Deputy Chair of the CRCWSC, Professor Rob Skinner. The course featured presentations by researchers from the CRCWSC including Professors Tony Wong, Nigel Tapper, Rebekah Brown and Ana Deletic.

Students provided positive feedback that the MOOC was well organised, clearly communicated and they appreciated the Educators’ engagement in the discussion and practitioner case studies.

A total of 4331 people signed up for the course and 1346 had completed at least one unit. The most popular topics included integrated urban water management issues such as different uses of open space within cities, how to integrate water sensitive urban design in urban spaces, transitioning to water sensitive cities and building the business case for water sensitive cities.

Due to the course’s popularity, organisers are planning with platform provider FutureLearn to run it again later this year. To register interest in the course, visit https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/liveable-cities.
