BNEGlobalCafeMockCEO of the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities, Professor Tony Wong is one of 50 global high profile thought leaders invited to speak at the two-day Brisbane Global Cafe preceding the G20 Leaders Summit on November 12 and 13. In launching the event, Lord Mayor of the City of Brisbane, Cr Graham Quirk, said that this was the first time that an event such as this has been organised in association with the G20 Leaders Summit, “the largest gathering of world leaders that Australia has hosted”.

Global thought leaders have been invited to speak on a diverse range of topics under five themes such as Improving human life; cities of the future; tourism’s new frontiers; powering future economies (energy); and the digital age – technology and entrepreneurship. Professor Wong will be the only speaker on the topic of water, focussing on urban water management for urban sustainability, resilience and liveability – the vision of a water sensitive city. He will highlight the need for a macro-economic perspective towards a whole-of-government approach to integrating urban water system planning and management to fully realise the multiple benefits of a water sensitive approach to urban water system planning.
