The CRCWSC Board is delighted to report its design and research credentials have been bolstered with the recent addition of two new members, Dr Mike Mouritz and Professor Simon Biggs.

Known to some as the “father of water sensitive urban design”, Dr Mike Mouritz brings more than 17 years of executive-level experience in integrating urban planning roles in local and state government, as well as consulting in the private sector. The CRCWSC welcomes his considerable expertise in the application of water sensitive urban design by local government.

Currently the Director of Economic Development for the City of Canning in WA, Mike is skilled in collaborating with a range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes that strengthen a city’s social, environmental, and economic fabric. He began his two-year term on the CRCWSC Board in August, 2016.

Professor Simon Biggs, who started his three-year term at the same time, will contribute strong research expertise. Simon’s experience includes research management and research in chemistry for high-technology industries. Currently the Executive Dean for the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology at the University of Queensland, Simon has academic experience at senior levels in both the UK and Australia. The award-winning author of more than 200 scientific publications also has several professional affiliations in the fields of engineering, chemical engineering, and chemistry. His research credentials will ensure CRCWSC projects in Tranche 2 maintain a high research standard and profile
