Smart Water Utilities explores future water management technology

Increasing pressure on water infrastructure has led to greater demand for new, affordable technologies and tools that can convert traditional unsustainable systems to become “smart water systems”.

Professor Gustaf Olsson, an international member of the Future Technologies (Program C) Research Advisory Sub-committee, has co-authored a new book ‘Smart Water Utilities: Complexity Made Simple’, which simply explains some of the challenges and possible solutions involved in sustainable water management.

The book, which is aimed at water utility engineers and managers and a general infrastructure designer and researcher audience, gives an overview of technologies such as online and real-time control systems that can be used to create a smart water utility.
