The CRC for Water Sensitive Cities’ Comprehensive Economic Evaluation Framework project (IRP2) is ready to trial the beta versions of two tools: the Benefit-Cost Analysis tool (WP3) developed by Professor David Pannell, and the Non-Market Value tool (WP2) developed by Dr Sayed Iftekhar, Dr Asha Gunawardena and Dr James Fogarty. We have custom-built both tools over the past 18 months, after closely engaging with key stakeholders.

CRCWSC Participants can now be the first to access and trial these tools:

  • The beta versions of the tools will be accessible only to CRCWSC Participants via the CRCWSC website. The BCA tool will be available in July; the Non Market Values tool will be available in August. Users must register their details before they can download each tool. We welcome any feedback, which you can send directly to the developer.
  • We are offering practical training sessions on how to use these tools to CRCWSC Participants involved in economics, project evaluation, or business case development in water-related projects. We are conducting one session in Perth (22 June 2018) and another session in Melbourne (19 July 2018). If you are interested, please contact your CRCWSC Regional Manager to discuss availability.
  • An online course will be available from September for Participants who would like more help to better understand how to use the tools effectively.
  • We will roll out more courses and training sessions in 2019, when we release the final versions of the tools.
