Introduction

This report documents the application of a benefit estimation methodology for the estimation of economic values produced by urban heat island (UHI) mitigation in a new suburban development through urban greening and integrated water management (IWM). It presents the results of a case study application of the methodology in the west of Melbourne1, Australia, building on biophysical and climate modelling undertaken for the assessment. The biophysical modelling, upon which this economic valuation methodology is based, is documented in a CRCWSC companion report Estimating the Economic Benefits of Urban Heat Island Mitigation – Biophysical Aspects.
