Brisbane-burbs-small-300x180International and Australian experts will provide thought-provoking concepts, tools and case studies to assist in enabling the transition towards water sensitive cities and towns at the second Water Sensitive Cities Conference in Brisbane from 8-9 September 2015.

The two-day conference, organised by the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities (CRCWSC), will feature three concurrent streams: on-ground practices, enabling structures and social capital.

Invited international keynote speakers include Senior Sustainability Scientist and Professor of Life Sciences Nancy Grimm from Arizona State University’s Global Institute of Sustainability, whose long-term research on disturbance and stream ecosystems has been extended to understanding how urban infrastructure can be made resilient in the face of weather-related extreme events. In Brisbane, she will discuss how a social-ecological-technological systems approach and framework for resilience of cities and infrastructure relate to extreme events.

The 2nd Water Sensitive Cities Conference will appeal to all sectors interested in transitioning cities, towns and regions to be more water sensitive. These include national, state and local government, urban water managers, the urban land and housing development sector, and private business sector.

For the first time, CRCWSC also invites industry participants and end-users to submit their own case study or project demonstrating the application or adaptation of CRCWSC knowledge.
