Two new reports discuss the legal frameworks that may help or hinder the establishment of water sensitive cities.

‘Results of a Legislative Stock-take for Queensland’ was undertaken by CRCWSC partner Maddocks. It looks at the extent to which legislation frameworks in Queensland may help or hinder the establishment of Water Sensitive Cities and forms a companion piece to two earlier reports which looked at the legislative frameworks of Victoria and Western Australia.

‘Kalkallo: a case study in technological innovation amidst complex regulation’, was undertaken by Monash University and investigates how current regulatory and risk allocation frameworks impacted upon the innovative Kalkallo stormwater harvesting and reuse project.

Theses reports were produced by the Better Regulatory Frameworks for Water Sensitive Cities (Project A3.2) team, which focuses on assessing barriers to the adoption of new urban water technologies and alternative water sources arising out of current regulatory and risk regimes.

This project has a particular focus on the regulatory regimes of Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland.
