The forthcoming Water Sensitive Cities Conference will be held at the Arts Centre in Melbourne on 21-22 October 2014. It will feature keynote addresses from eminent international thought-leaders, including Professors Gustaf Olsson and Glenn McGregor.

The CRC for Water Sensitive Cities (CRCWSC) is now into its 3rd year of operation. Currently, there are 31 projects in progress and encompass 20 research disciplines. These projects involve over 170 researchers and engage 8 sectors who are key stakeholders in transforming global cities into resilient, liveable, productive and sustainable cities. The Water Sensitive Cities Conference will showcase the inter-relationships between the many disciplinary issues being investigated, the insights gained from these projects and will facilitate discussion on how they could be adopted and adapted in practice.

Gustaf Olsson is Professor of Industrial Automation and Professor Emeritus at Lund University, Sweden since 2006. He has devoted his research to control and automation in water systems, electrical power and process industries. His keynote will focus on contemporary thinking and understanding of the inter-relationships (the couplings and conflicts) in the water-energy-food nexus, particularly in the urban environment.

Glenn McGregor is Professor of Climatology and Principal of Ustinov College at Durham University in the United Kingdom. His research interests fall into four areas namely; synoptic climatology, biometeorology, hydroclimatology plus climate and society. His keynote presentation will examine the nexus between urban heat and human health within a climate risk management framework.

The preliminary program and details on how to register will be available in early August.
