After submitting his thesis in September, PhD graduate Don Williams commenced working in a policy role at the Department of Environment, Land, Water, and Planning the very next day.

By focusing on reforming Victoria's statutory land use planning system to better support the adoption of water sensitive urban design practices, the role follows on closely from Mr Williams’ research, which was supported by the CRC for Water Sensitive cities (CRCWSC).

Mr Williams is thrilled to step into a role with the “potential to directly link research and practice”.

With one of the CRCWSC’s aims being to form links between research and application, it anticipates seeing more emerging water experts channelling their skills and research findings into industry roles.
