DRDlogoThe CRC for Water Sensitive Cities (CRC-WSC) welcomes the Department of Regional Development (DRD) as its latest participant, joining 73 other participating organisations in pioneering new cooperative research that will guide water management reform to transform Australian cities and towns into water sensitive cities.

The new partnership represents a 9-year commitment to working with CRC-WSC, particularly the research team at The University of Western Australia, to address water issues faced by Western Australia.

DRD administers the Royalties for Regions initiative and facilitates the development and diversification of sustainable regional communities. DRD’s support for the transition to water sensitive cities in Western Australia furthers its mission to facilitate the development of sustainable regional communities.

“The Department of Regional Development is pleased to be working with the CRC on developing innovative solutions to some of the challenges facing regional development in Western Australia. Collaborating with other industry and research centres is important in order to achieve the best outcomes for the State,” DRD Director General, Paul Rosair said.

“The inclusion of the Department of Regional Development in the CRC will broaden our understanding of the context and unique challenges in delivering innovation in urban water management in regional cities and towns in Western Australia. We are very excited at the prospect of our research encompassing a wider spectrum of geographic, biophysical and climatic conditions in WA.” says Professor Tony Wong, Chief Executive of CRC-WSC.
