Summary

‘Integration’ is often considered fundamental to realising holistic city shaping aspirations, like water sensitive cities, which demand strong linkages between urban and water planning activities. But what does integration mean? And more importantly, how can it be operationalised in practice? This discussion paper takes a step towards answering these questions. It draws on academic literature, practitioner insights and case study research across Australia to unpack two aspects of integration that are key to facilitating water sensitive urban development practices.
