Summary

The vision of this case study is enhanced flood management via a multifunctional freshwater wildlife conservation park. It presents a unique draw for tourists and a valuable recreational space for residents of Duong Dong ward, and leads the way in demonstrating circular economy and sustainability principles in Vietnam.

This case study was one of 4 that applied the Integrated Urban Flood Management approach cities in the Greater Mekong region. Together, the case studies illustrate the flexibility of nature-based solutions in creating climate-resilient cities. and quantify the economic, social and environmental value nature-based solutions can add to existing infrastructure and strategies.

The project was established by the World Bank and the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), and is implemented by the Cooperative Research Centre for Water Sensitive Cities (CRCWSC) and the International Centre for Environmental Management (ICEM). It is supported by the Australian Water Partnership (AWP) as part of its Australia-Mekong Water Facility.
