Many metro and regional councils  in New South Wales are in the process of integrating water sensitive design into their Local Strategic Planning Statements as a way to strategically manage water in all its forms.

To support these councils in their efforts, the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities is hosting a series of webinars from November until March, leading up to its final annual conference from 15 to 18 March 2021.

No previous experience with water sensitive cities is required—these webinars will start at the beginning. And councils outside New South Wales are welcome too.

The first webinar will be held this month:

Webinar 1 – Planning for a Water Sensitive City: why it’s important for metro and regional councils – Tuesday 17 November, 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm (AEST)

  • CRCWSC Commercial Manager, Malcolm Eadie, will talk about what the CRCWSC has achieved over the past eight years and give an overview of the tools it has produced to help councils strategically plan for water.
  • Nell Graham, the CRCWSC NSW Regional Advisory Panel (RAP) Chairperson, will discuss why these tools are important for metro councils and how the tools can help councils develop their water sensitive strategies.
  • Emma Brunton, the CRCWSC NSW RAP Deputy Chairperson, will discuss why these tools are important for regional councils and how the tools can specifically help regional councils in their pursuit of water sensitive design.
