The 2016 CRCWSC Researchers Workshop, September 6 & 7: Moving into an industry-led phase of implementing knowledge
In a prime opportunity to reflect on research successes to date – and mark a new focus for the future – the CRC for Water Sensitive Cities (CRCWSC) held its Researchers Workshop on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 September, at Melbourne’s Bayview on Eden.
The CRCWSC is going through an exciting phase as it shifts focus from generating new knowledge, to developing and implementing research outputs (via a Tranche 2 phase of work) to offer direct benefits for government and industry participants.
Across two days, researchers and partners celebrated knowledge gains and discussed the delivery and industry-led focus of CRCWSC projects over 2016–2020. This included interdisciplinary projects that will span Integrated Research, Tool and Products, and Regional Projects, and deliver solutions ranging from a framework for evidence-based, integrated urban planning; to tried-and-tested tools for decision-making.
And reflecting the need for close research–industry collaboration, upcoming communications training for PhD candidates will continue to build the robust, industry-ready skills needed in future water leaders and innovators.
The event marks another step towards achieving the CRCWSC’s vision of a new paradigm for sustainable, water sensitive urban landscapes, in which creativity and technical and scientific rigour merge to create resilient future cities.
